About me

About Me

I studied ceramics & silversmithing as a Degree then went on further, to complete a MA in Ceramic Design for Production in Stoke on Trent in the late 90's. Since then I was a freelance shape designer in the Potteries briefly before moving into work as design coordinator for a major UK high street supplier, based in London.

I co-ordinated homeware designs from initial planning through to production for the likes of Marks & Spencers, Debenhams & House of Fraser. Then moved into a career as a homeware buyer for British Home Stores and then NEXT plc before leaving to set up my own retail business, focusing on tabletop ceramics and homeware, based in Nottingham.

The UK economy crashed into 'The Credit Crunch' at the same time as I fell pregnant with my 1st child, I sold my little business before it had time to really get going and and came back to Sheffield to be a full time mum. To be close to family and the beautiful Peak District.

Six years ago, I found a wonderful place in Sheffield called The Arthouse that enabled me to have to creative space to start to find my love of clay again. After a throwing lesson with the wonderful late Peter Swailes in Chesterfield and another with The Blue Elephant pottery, I decided to buy my own wheel & Kiln and base myself from home. I practice my craft as often as a can.

I am now part time Art Technician at a local secondary school and part time (still hobby) potter. I'm still finding my creative way. I feel 6 years on from reconnecting with clay, that my skills are now at a level where I am much more comfortable in showing them off, hence the website.

I now am looking forward to finding a place where I can express myself with my new found throwing skills through clay. I'm excited to see where this journey will take me. I hope that you find this new chapter of mine interesting and chose to follow and support me along the way.

Thank you for being here xx
