I studied ceramics & silversmithing as a Degree then went on further, to complete a Masters in 'Ceramic Design for Production' in Stoke on Trent in the late 90's. Since then I was a freelance shape designer in the Potteries, before moving into work as design coordinator for a major UK high street supplier, based in London.
From designing, through to production, I managed homeware production briefs for the likes of Marks & Spencers, Debenhams & House of Fraser. Then moved into a career as a homeware buyer for British Home Stores and then NEXT plc before leaving to set up my own retail business, focusing on tabletop ceramics and homeware, based in Nottingham.
The UK economy crashed into 'The Credit Crunch' at the same time as I fell pregnant with my 1st child, I sold my little business before it had time to really get going and and came back to Sheffield to be a full time mum. To be close to family and the beautiful Peak District.
In the summer of 2015, I found a wonderful place in Sheffield called The Arthouse that enabled me to have to creative space to start to find my love of clay again. After a year or so & a few throwing lessons, I decided to buy my own wheel & Kiln and base myself from home. I now practice my craft as often as I can.
I am also part time Art Technician at a local secondary school and part time (still hobby) potter. I'm still finding my creative way. I feel 10 years on from reconnecting with clay, that my skills are now at a level where I'm happy to show and sell my work.
I'm excited & curious to see where this journey through exploring my creativity through clay will take me. I hope that you find this new chapter of mine interesting and chose to follow and support me along the way.Â
Thank you for being here xx
